Monica Mileti, the author of Avid Reviews, lives in Carmel Valley California. She graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in English in 2010. Since then she has had a myriad of medical issues and has been through eight major surgeries. Because of this, she works from her home as a writer and a graphic designer. She is currently working on her serial novel, The Bane of Bennu, which is published with Jukepop Serials. She also writes this fantasy and sci-fi book review blog, and in her spare time she loves to sing and spend time with her cats.

This blog will be an amalgamation of reviews for both independent and traditionally published books in the speculative fiction genre. It will incorporate many different sub-genres, including Sci-Fi, Epic Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, and “Grim Dark.” I want this blog to be a place for any fan of speculative fiction to find book reviews, and hopefully to find some amazing new books to read. I know that some of you like to stick to an exclusive sub-genre of speculative fiction, but I also know that a lot of you have been looking for a site that will review a variety of spec fic genres, as well as different kinds of publishing. I hope that Avid Reviews can be such a place. I am working on a stamp that I will use to approve especially good independently published novels, and another stamp for excellent novels that disregards type of publisher entirely.
